Rajneeti lives up to its hype

The film begins with a political family which falls apart due to sibling rivalry, differences in oppinions and hunger for power. It is about stepping over one another for the ultimate status and power. The first half is very gripping with some interesting twists and a very promising break into the interval. But the second half does not quite live up to the expectations. It becomes a little dragged and repetative. One can clearly see influences and parts from the Mahabharata and the Godfather. The climax was quite silly and unbelievable. But overall it makes for a good film.Ranbir Kapoor does a great job with a very controlled and mature performance. All the hype around Katrina's Performance was just a gimmick. Her act was very incompetent. When Katrina comes on the dias to give her first speech I couldn't help but compare it to the speech given by Raveena Tandon in Satta. Raveena's powerful voice and dialogue delivery hit our hearts and inspired us while Katrina's was like a primary student in a story telling competition. Arjun Rampal was a surprise package, he did a fairly good job with his role which was very powerful. Manoj Bajpaee delivers yet another powerful performance. Ajay Devgan with his immense screen presence is always a pleasure to watch. Nana Patekar was calm and controlled. Shruti Seth stands apart even in a short cameo and Nasrudeen Shah leaves a mark with his few words.Overall except for a few glitches it is a must watch. It has successfully shown lot of realities of politics. It is one of the very good movies in recen times.

Agree through and through.

Nana Patekar was class though.
I mean, for a guy who is so famous for his 'angry man' roles, he was absolutely mind blowing in his calm controlled peaceful performance.

Katrina's speech was unconvincing as hell. That female can't act for nuts.

And yes, ending was crap. Very unrealistic. If it was something better, movie had potential of becoming one of the biggest hits of the year.
